Dementia is caused by damage to brain cells by diseases such as Alzheimer's disease or stroke or even lifestyle choices such as smoking.
The Care Company has care specialists who are experts in looking after clients with dementia and memory care. Our dementia caregivers can provide companionship, supervise recreational activities, assist with necessary daily living activities, and ensure a safe environment for your loved one. They are also experienced with managing behavioural changes and providing a consistent routine to reduce confusion and anxiety. Many also have advanced training with The Gentle Persuasive approach.
The Gentle Persuasive Approach
GPA is an innovative dementia care education curriculum based on a person-centred care approach, designed for interdisciplinary point of care staff across healthcare sectors. The session is evidence-based, interactive and practical. GPA Certified Coaches guide participants to fully understand responsive behaviours to respond effectively and appropriately in a workplace setting. GPA also includes respectful self-protective and gentle redirection techniques for use in situations of risk.
Unlike many dementia education programs, GPA is multidisciplinary and comprehensive in its delivery. It is evidence-based, incorporating collective, established evidence from the dementia context and AGE’s empirical evidence derived from our extensive evaluations of GPA within organizations. GPA Basics Education comprises four modules: An Introduction to Personhood, Brain and Behaviour, The Interpersonal Environment, and Gentle Persuasive Techniques for Respectful Self-Protection.

Who Can Benefit From Personal Care Services?
Family members are often concerned about the safety and well-being of the older adults they love, especially if they live alone or are managing chronic health conditions or the effects of growing older.
Our personal home care services provide families with peace of mind and offer older adults a helping hand to remain independent, safe, and comfortable in the homes they love.
Are Services the Same for Each Individual?
We honor each person’s preferred routine. If a client enjoys waking up and having a morning cup of tea in the sunroom before showering and getting dressed, or going for a morning walk before breakfast, we will adhere to that routine. We listen to and get to know those we serve so that we’re familiar with their likes, dislikes, and interests. This allows us to offer a holistic approach to care that addresses the needs of each individual as a whole.
Because our services are highly customized to each individual’s particular needs, any older adult can benefit from our care. Sometimes, all that’s required is a little assistance with housework and preparing meals. Or someone may need just a friendly companion to ease loneliness and isolation. Others may struggle with conditions like Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease, requiring more assistance. Whatever the need, there’s a solution to be found at The Care Company.
Why Choose The Care Company?
When it comes to care services, often seniors feel more comfortable with professional assistance over receiving care from a family member or friend. Our personal caregivers are experts at providing support while preserving a senior’s dignity and independence. We never come in and “take over,” but rather empower seniors to be in control of each aspect of their lives – with the right level of support needed along the way.
We realize that inviting a caregiver into the home of an older loved one to provide services requires a great deal of trust. We provide reassurance to families through our rigorous hiring protocol that includes in-depth interviews, background screenings, and reference checks. We also provide liability insurance for each of our caregivers. Finally, we provide training in a variety of care tasks to ensure each caregiver’s skills are sharp and up to date, for the highest possible quality of care.
We’re also proud to have achieved the status of a pre-designate Best Practice Spotlight Organization by the Registered Nurses Association, showcasing our dedication to using evidence-based practices to make positive impacts on the care we provide.
